The NRA, along with organizations representing hundreds of thousands of employers and tens of millions of employees, are launching the More Time for Full-Time initiative. This initiative will highlight the negative impact the 30-hour work week definition in the Affordable Care Act has on employees and employers, and urges Congress to restore the traditional definition of a full-time employee to 40 per week through bipartisan reform. The Louisiana Department of Revenue is announcing its 2014 Tax Amnesty Program, which will run October 15-November 14. The 30-day tax amnesty program offers non-compliant taxpayers the opportunity to settle their accounts with the state by paying 100 percent of delinquent taxes, with a waiver of all penalties and 50 percent of the interest owed. Important reminder: Any foodservice establishment having food and/or beverage sales in Orleans Parish and the New Orleans International Airport and has $200,000 or more in taxable food and/or beverage sales in the preceding year MUST COLLECT the New Orleans Exhibition Hall Authority tax. For sales $200,000 to $499,999, the rate of tax is 0.5 percent and for sales $500,000 or more, the rate of tax is 0.75 percent.
