Fleur du Coeur: A Culinary Tribute Raises $100,000 for New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund
Feb 3, 2025
The Louisiana Restaurant Association (LRA) is proud to announce that Fleur du Coeur: A Culinary Tribute, held January 13–19, raised $100,000 for the Greater New Orleans Foundation New Year’s Day Tragedy Fund. The weeklong dining promotion was organized by a group of local restaurateurs and bar owners to support victims, families, and the community affected by the January 1 tragedy.
“For such a horrible event to happen on our doorstep and iconic Bourbon Street is something we’re still processing,” said Melvin Rodrigue, President and CEO of Galatoire’s Restaurant. “Coming together for this promotion helped us begin to heal by doing what we do best—hospitality—even in the hardest times.”
The funds were presented during a reception on Sunday, February 2, at Galatoire's 33 Bar & Steak, where first responders who acted heroically on the scene were also honored. The gathering served as a meaningful conclusion to the event, celebrating the resilience and generosity of the New Orleans hospitality community.
“The restaurant and bar industry is the heartbeat of this city, and when tragedy strikes, it is this community that steps up to support,” said Stan Harris, President and CEO of the LRA. “Raising $100,000 is a testament to the compassion and unity of our members, their teams, and the customers who dined in support of this effort.”
Fleur du Coeur featured signature dishes and drinks at participating establishments, with 100% of proceeds from those menu items donated to the fund. The LRA extends its gratitude to the participating businesses and the Greater New Orleans community for their overwhelming support.
“This incredible show of generosity from the restaurant and hospitality community speaks to the strength and compassion of New Orleans,” said Andy Kopplin, President and CEO of the Greater New Orleans Foundation. “These funds will provide vital support to the victims and their families, aligning with our mission to strengthen and uplift our community in times of need.”
